One day, I was sitting at my desk, watching YouTube videos of incredible drummers showing off their chops, when it suddenly hit me, I didn’t really know how to play chops myself. That realisation sparked a deep dive into the world of drumming resources.
I explored videos, books, PDFs, and online courses. There was a ton of great material out there. But none of it offered the structured approach or clear path I was looking for, especially when it came to understanding how and when to apply chops in a musical context.
So, I thought, maybe I should try writing something myself, rather than learning random licks. I wanted to put down my ideas, the way I’d like to learn, and what I’was looking for. I thought about creating something that follows a progressive and structured approach.
That idea became this book.
